The vacuum advance on my '70 Plymouth 440/6 has gone out; I need another one.
The engine is stock, I just need one that works and is adjustable, does not have to be NOS or 'correct', just one that works. I looked at the parts suppliers, AutoZone, O'Reilly, etc, no one seems to have one.
Does...
I have a '70 GTX with the four-speed. The reverse lockout/ignition interlock is missing, so I bought the parts from Brewer.
The parts book and service manual don't give a lot of info.
Would someone have the time to get under a car and snap some pictures of the reverse lockout/ignition...
My '70 Plymouth GTX has the 3.54 Dana rear. I'm now hearing a clicking, popping noise, sounds like it's coming from the rear, but not sure. It's continous, even when just rolling (clutch in) at low speeds.
Drove the car some 10 miles or so, got it warmed up, sound got louder. Let the car sit...
What's the proper method of re-installing the yoke when replacing the pinion seal on a Dana 60?
I've heard there's a crush sleeve that goes in and I have to be real careful to correctly torque the nut that holds the yoke on?
(The car is a '70 Plymouth 440/6 with a factory Dana 60 rear.)
Does anyone know the tightening sequence for the intake manifold bolts on a 440 six pack? The '70 service manual only says 40 foot pounds, does not show the sequence to tighten the bolts.
('70 Plymouth GTX, 440 six pack.)
I have a '70 Plymouth factory six pack car, engine is stock with a mild street cam. (I believe it'a a purple stripe cam, was in the car when I got it.)
I'd like to convert to a four barrel for driveability and some level of fuel economy. Can anyone recommend a four barrel carburetor and...
What vacuum should a 1970 440 six pack pull at 800 rpm idle? The engine is stone stock, except for an electronic performance distributor. The distributor has about 10 degrees advance at idle.
If my vacuum is below that amount, what steps can I take to increase the vacuum?
I have a 1970 GTX 440/6 with the original 18 spline transmission. I want to buy a Centerforce dual friction clutch. They list one for a 10.5 inch flywheel and one for a 11 inch flywheel.
Which flywheel do I have?
From whom do you suggest I buy the clutch kit?
I'm getting ready to paint my engine.
1) Is the engine painted with the distributor on the engine?
2) Is the engine painted with the spark plug hangers on the engine?
3) The coil is mounted on a little stand on the intake manifold. Is the engine painted with that litte stand in place...
Went to replace the fuel pump on my '70 GTX 440/6. This forum suggested the Carter M4845, which is available from Year One for $70. Went to my local parts house and ordered one. The parts fellow could not locate a Carter M4845, so he ordered a Spectra pump for $35.
Picked up the Spectra...
Just bought a '70 GTX with a 4-speed. I want to remove and grease the Z-bar (torsion shaft).
Pulled the access panel, the shaft coming from the clutch pedal has a weird lock washer where it connects to the Z-bar. Is this the correct washer from the factory? How can it be removed? Once...
Just bought a '70 GTX with a four-speed.
The clutch is really hard to press. Why? Jacked the car up, looked at the mechanism. I don't see any lubrication points or grease fittings. (I have a three speed manual column shift car. That clutch is like a feather, easy, and there is a grease...
Just bought a 1970 GTX with the 440/6 engine. Does anyone have a picture of the fuel pump, vapor separator and fuel filter? I want to see how these components mount in the car and hook up to the fuel lines.
Several pictures from different angles would be best.
