Is there a quality LED replacement bulb for the bulbs in the 66/67 instrument cluster that is brighter? One that someone has actually used? Also preferably ones that are dimmable but there may not be such a thing.
Sort of a public service announcement - if looking for a source of Packard 58 female terminals I’ve found some at:
Clips and Fasteners Inc.
ClipsAndFasteners.com
3158 E. La Palma Ave
Anaheim, CA, 92806
Sort of have to rummage through their catalog to individually find them but I found these...
In reference to my other thread: Voltage levels dropping when AC turned on in my 67 GTX?
Looks like my “P” bulkhead slot for circuit to Batt on the alternator is suffering from a loose female terminal. Looking up under the dash, the bulkhead is behind and shrouded by the AC/heater box. Last...
I have a factory air 67 GTX that some may remember my adventure with last winter in switching over from an electronic voltage regulator to a mechanical one to get my system voltage levels down from 15+ volts to 14 volts. It took a new, rebuilt alternator in addition to the mech VR but I finally...
I have 3 various, different electronic voltage regulators that all put out 15.2 to 15.5 volts on my 67 which I consider excessive. Unfortunately my efforts to put a mechanical voltage regulator on it have been unsuccessful and I’ve tried 3 different ones. All produced a rapidly flickering amp...
I installed a NORS mechanical voltage regulator (from Halifaxhops) on my 67 GTX today in order to replace the solid state one that was putting out 15 volts+. It’s allowing a charge fine and I’ve about got the voltage dialed in to where I want it but the alternator gage needle is jumping...
This info was originally from a Cobra Replica manufacturer who promoted them as a painless swap for 1157 tail light bulbs for better visibility. Like a lot of older cars the Cobra lights have had problems with LEDs and flashers. I’ve managed by hook or crook to get some form of LEDs in the...
I’m replacing the solid state regulator in my 66 Satellite that was putting out 15 volts. The mechanical one purchase appears inside to be very similar to the Chrysler one in the service manual.
I first drove the car yesterday and upon starting the cold voltage was 13.6 volts followed by some...
I have a 67 GTX and a 66 Satellite, both with under dash voltage gauges. Both cars have rebuilt alternators, new solid state regulators, and the 66 has complete new wiring harness. The 67 has all original harness but no Bubba work on it and everything works. Both cars run over towards 15...
Most forums have an electronic ignition vs points argument regularly so this is probably starting another one. I have 4 old cars, 3 with dual points and an old Vette with reproduction Transistor Ignition in it. I’ve been towed home 4 times in my life in daily and vintage cars, 3 for electronic...
Last year I went thru my gauges and installed a solid state voltage regulator. Since then my gages have worked well and read accurately except for one thing. After I have driven the car a little and shut it of, say to get gas, when I restart the car the fuel and temp gage go to full right...
Bought what I hoped was a decent turn signal switch off eBay for my 66.
Plymouth 1963 1964 1965 1966 Brand New Turn Signal Switch TS102 2631383 2822170 | eBay
The turn signal part works fine but the horn contact is too short to reach the contact plate on the steering wheel. I can ground a...
Trying to determine why the temp gage in my 66 seems to not be working. All new harness which I carefully went through and verified all wire indexing and continuity during replacement. Also I have an auxiliary mechanical temp gage under dash and it reads a pretty steady 180F when running.
I...
Asks the man who pulled the wire out of one of his? And yes, the boots and plug barrels were lubed with dielectric grease.
Mancini has a tool but they don’t seem to want to reveal the price publicly and shipping and tax will probably double it. But it looks like something similar might be...
My 66 has an open spade terminal on the ignition switch. Is that a switched power connection by any chance?
I know - I should have checked it with a test light when I was under there but I didn’t think of it.
thanks
Tried searching for threads on this but turned up almost nothing under bouncing alternator gage, so having to post my own.
66 Satellite Hemi I just got started today after replacing all of the harness except the rear one, and a whole lot of other stuff. Standard round back alternator...
My 66 Hemi Satellite appears to have the correct variable speed wiper unit in place and I’m assuming the correct switch. The switch seems to have an off/park position, a low speed setting and then a long rotary area that I assume is the variable speed portion. I have off and the low speed but...
All my interior lights are on whenever my battery is connected. As I understand the circuit:
- power comes off the dome/stop/taillight fuse by pink wire through a piggyback connection at the brake switch that runs to the light switch.
- power from the light switch - piggybacked to power...
1966 Plymouth Satellite. Just installed all new electrical harnesses in dash, engine bay and headlights and have a few issues to troubleshoot. First one I tackled is the headlight. Headlight switch is the one in the car previously and worked. Dash lights work. Turn signals work.
Pulled...
