When I finally because a machinist (ha) and finally acquired a dial indicator I checked my 'feel'.......it was pretty close but on the loose side which isn't bad compared to being on the tight side and risk having a problem out on the highway on a really hot day. Never had an issue.
Well, people quit going to the mom and pop hardware stores for the big box stores that were supplied by cheap China made crap and the mom and pop stores couldn't compete....plus, too many 'do it yourselfers' didn't want to do it yourself anymore.
