Many later blocks are "cold weather" blocks. The sides by the freeze plugs are visibly thicker. They are all heavy duty tho really, and you need to state your horsepower intent and race duty before worrying about the vintage.

Take the horn ring off (twist) and post up the casting number. You can look it up in the parts books that way

Some valve bodys do allow this..... its pretty common. I would double.....triple check the shifter linkage tho, just to make sure the shifter and rods are allowing the trans detents to remain fully seated at all points.

The stage 2 intake will work without issues. A&A trans makes/sells an aftermarket crossram too, if you should need one. I havta agree with RemCharger on this.... you could likely get a real good buck for that original set if you chose to go that route. I think racers are hunting the...

Im pretty sure i spent just under $10,000 to build an Indy headed 470, 20 years ago. I can`t imagine you would want an eight thousand dollar one now.
