I have a 67 Jeep Gladiator pick up. It had a water leak in a similar area. Though it was inaccesable from the outside like yours is. It had to be accessed inside thru the floor vents in the A pillar. Reached up thru the bent and used a pick to pull away the flakey maerial. Then with a small wire...
Does it just stay in 2nd? Or act like its in neutral when it tries to make the 2/3 shift. I'd get some pressure readings before changing the fluid. Very doubtful a fluid change will help. In 3rd gear you should see line pressure (50-90 depending on how much throttle) on the KD servo pressure tap...
The only reason to full float would be for ease of disassembly. If that were the case? The application would probably have pistons and rods that were set up that way from the start and not be using cast pistons and stock rods.

My bet is the head could be easily sleeved as well. Doubt if it's cracked. Most likely core shift. Either oil feed passage or the head bolt hole. The head bolt holes in my Indy -1's are ported far enough that the head studs that go between the intake ports had to be sleeved. Those studs hold...
I'm with thw clean it seal it crowd. The Yamahe genrrator in my trailer leaked between th ecase halves. Took all the bolts out and pryed the case halves apart about 1/8". Cleaned the gasket out with an exacto blade. brkleen it a few time to make sue all the oil drained. Filled the gap with...
ISo if you put your finger on the shaft pedestal you can feel air? If that head is removedten you can tell if the leak is in the block or head. If no crack is seen in the leaking part ( be it the head or bock). Then sleeve the hole with a piece of tube. One final thought. Is it possible the head...
Is it the passage in the block or the head? The cause of the issue in the block we had was core shift. It wasn’t cracked. The passage intersected a water jacket as the entire block core was off to one side. Drilled the passage oversize and sleeved it with a lock tighted tube. Not sure how close...
You will have no issue. The 3 pin planets will live easily to 700HP. The 4 friction front clutch is more desirable than a 3 friction. However on a stock engine the 3 plate wont be an issue if it's in good shape. It's possible both trans are 4 friction. The rest of the differences are calibration...
I'm not much of a believer in the rod/stroke ratio deal. Get the stroke you want. Find a light piston that will fit a ring pack, pin in a decent location. Use a rod that puts that zero deck. The R/S ratio is what it is. If you can fit a longer rod? Great now the piston is lighter. But no sense...
Friend had a Koleno block that leaked oil and coolant together. Made a fitting for the oil pressure gauge port. Coonected it to shop air. It blew coolant out of the radiator. Turned out it had the right side oil feed hole in the block from the cam into a coolant passage. Easy test

If it has no kick down most likely not the governor circuit. It's lack of throttle pressure. Need to put a gauge in the accumulator port. Start the car with the lthrottle linkage disconnected. Move the throttle arm at the trans back fully. Pressure should rise at least 50 psi. Throttle Governor...
You need clearance for a 3/8" bolt. Wall thickness? How brave are you? I would say .125" in aluminum. Maybe .090" but that might crush when tightened. Fully story on tubing. Years ago I crewed On Koffels B/D comp car. it was a 5 speed Liberty. The driver who was good at the tree was struggling...
The trans stuff is actually quicker than gear set up. I HATE gear set up. Just went thru a push button trans with no kick down. Easy diagnosis when you get there. In this case it was a crack in the wall of the valve body next to the throttle pressure valve.

You could certainly fab a new one. Especially if most of the floor needs to get cut up. But if it's only the tunnel than needs mods? Probably a lot less work jut to slice out the center of the crossmember and tunnel and not beat up the rest of the floor. Then just enlarge the tunnel and add a...
