I have 2012 Ram and ate the cam in my 5.7 at a 125K. I opted for a reman. engine with the MDS delete w/the tuner and stainless headers to eliminate the exhaust stud breakage issue. 30K later and I have no regrets, my truck actually runs better, tows better and gets a little better mileage now.

After trying get my 472 hemi to idle good for a while, I ordered a FBO distributor and box. They set it up for my combination and my engine runs great. Idles at 900 rpm's, pulls hard and runs all day long at 180 degrees.

My '63 Sport Fury that we pulled out of a container in southern California where it had sat for 20 years and the Bob Mazzolini 500" engine that came with it. Now waiting for it's turn in my shop.
