There are some videos out there of Grumpy Jenkins shifting back in the day. To me it looked like instead of preloading the shifter, he timed it so he yanked on it at just the right time.
He was right up there with the best.
Thanks - really no room there - its a convertible and the power top relay sits next to headlight relay. The delay relay is pretty long about 3". Hoping someone will post a pic.
Makes sense but never tried it that way. I usually just 'yanked' the shifter whenever it was time to shift, I just 'yanked' it and was there. A good clutch and shifter along with a good transmission worked well. In the late 70's my room mate 'power shifted' my 56 Chevy with a 3 speed hooked up...
