I agree I should have done that before I installed. I compared to my original tank and I saw the difference in the angle. I agree with you, Rather than wait and see what happens, I think I will try to bend the ears up and away from the exhaust tailpipe.
Last week I installed a new gas tank in my 1967 charger. This morning I installed the tailpipes onto my exhaust system. Both tailpipes are just touching the triangular flap that is on each side of the gas tank.
