Another 'how old is everybody' thread.....

I was able to triple my post rate after I retired.

What are your Mopar goals for 2025?

The last one I sold, used the cash to cover the one year gap between my retirement, and claiming maximum social security at age 70. I miss my Hemi GTX, but every time I enter the automatic deposit in the check book it turns me on as much as opening the secondaries on that beast used to be.

The second one. The Dealer Demonstrator. I test drove this '69 GTX, the family car of the local Plymouth dealer, in 1970, one week before my 17th birthday. Tried to buy for the next 13 years, dealer wouldn't sell it to me. Bought Baby Blue instead, the last time he turned me down, in '83...

First one - Baby Blue. Purchased in 1983, sold in 1991, bought her back in 2013. Shown as purchased in 1983, and later, with my friend Bob, who sold her to me the first time. When I sold the car, I put his contact info with the paperwork, knowing he was in his forever home, while I was still...

Welcome from Pennsylvania. I located two GTXs from my youth through word of mouth with other hobbyists. Both cars were off the radar for over 20 years.

    The Roach

Except for my dad's slant six Valiant. He also ran black wall tires, but splurged on 14 inch rims.

    local old timer

Friends of my parents had a '61 Buick Electra they got as a hand me down from the wife's rich family. That car still rode silently, without a trace of a squeak or rattle, when it nine years old.

    The Roach

Back in the day, more of them ran white lines than dog dish caps. My GTX, when it was a daily driver.

Welcome from Pennsylvania. I own a sibling to your Road Runner. My GTX was originally the family car of the Plymouth dealer in my town. Made it home, four decades after they sold it. The dealership is still operating, under new ownership. Love to see those historic connections preserved.

My mom's family drove them. My favorite was my Uncle Harry's '57 Super 88 two door hardtop with a J-2 engine. He traded a frumpy '50 Dodge for that car. My cousin Larry, who was a real life version of Eddie Haskel, talked him into it, the car was a left over dealer demonstrator, so my frugal...

What's your New Years Resolution ?

Fifty years ago this coming weekend, my future wife broke up with me, three months after we started dating. I made New Years resolutions in that era. She felt I had no assured sense of direction, and I'd made no consequential decisions at that point in my life. Things changed rapidly from that...

    1969 Road Runner preservation

The '69 Road Runner I inspected for a fellow FBBO member a few months ago had an identical original interior. Previous owner had replaced the lower portion with original fabric with a slight patina, and I could not tell it had been done, blended perfectly with the rest.

    1969 Road Runner preservation

One awesome Road Runner! Our dealer in State College sold a a near twin with a four speed. They took it to the spring new car show at the local shopping mall. First B body I ever sat in, still have the sales brochure I pulled from the pile in the passenger seat. Your car reminds me so much of...

Original Fan? Radiator re-core (if needed).

I was pleased with the performance of the fixed blade fan in previous GTX, but I currently own another factory A/C car which has the correct 070 thermal drive with matching date code from Tony's Parts. If you want nit picky factory OEM, it works well, drove the GTX to Carlisle last summer in 95...

Original Fan? Radiator re-core (if needed).

I had an unrestored factory A/C GTX 30 years ago that had a fixed spacer in place of the thermal drive fan that normally went with the A/C cars. I had the broadcast sheet, and it was coded for the spacer. So the non-clutch could have been factory OEM.

    Remember the Y2K scare?

It's a product of many large organizations. I was unfortunate to experience the same foolishness with my corporate employer, coincidentally in 1999, when I was general counsel. I saw the storm coming, bailed with a golden parachute, and went back to driving a truck. Company survived, but lost...

    1960 Dodge matador station wagon

In 1964, my dad felt they were just plain ugly, I thought they were totally cool. Our 1956 Dodge Sierra wagon was on its last legs, and I thought for sure dad would be trapped into buying one, since he had always traded up to four year old Mopar wagons. Instead, he bought his first new car...

    Remember the Y2K scare?

My wife's kid brother is an accountant who specializes in IT for auditing. He made a killing in consulting fees prior to Y2K, and employed 25 people in his firm. Then his firm went broke in the wake of the 2008 financial meltdown, which most "experts" didn't see coming.
