The diff shop checked out the rear and everything looked fine, but obviously it wasn't. They put a new set of gears in and all new bearings. Let's hope it holds this time.
I had a new problem later in the day though. My tank vent lines were puking fuel. As soon as I popped the fuel cap it...
I figured out the weird noise was my exhaust had shifted and was touching my suspension mounts. Easy fix, but on the test drive the rear end started roaring under load. I only went for about 5 miles, but when I got home the rear end was very hot. I opened up the fill plug and smoke started...
I got everything put together on the switch. It's in a nice spot where I can reach it, but not see it.
Now that the radio is in and all the pieces are working, that's the end of what I wanted to do initially with my swap. I've still got plenty to do, but it's something crossing off the...
I bought a cheap switch for my antenna. Now when the antenna fails to deploy, I toggle the switch on and off and it works. I can also lower the antenna when I'm only using maps or streaming from my phone and don't need it.
I found a spot under the dash next to the steering column to hide it...
I got the car back from the AC shop today. They created custom lines for me and charged the system. Now I just need to wait for a hot day to test it.
It has also come to my attention that there should be a clip to hold the mixing valve cable to the lever arm on the HVAC arm. I'm not one of...
I was able to determine my wire lever nuts were just bad. I swapped them out for a different set of wire nuts and that did the trick for everything except the antenna. That still wants to be unplugged and plugged back in to work. I'm going to install a switch that I think will solve that...
Yeah I'm running a Terminator X, but I can't help you there. I have a cable throttle body.
I know very little about tuning, but for what it's worth, my tuner agreed that the stock tune on the Holley wasn't very close.
I agree that's what it sounds like, but I checked to make sure it was connected correctly. I have a power outlet in the console cubby that should have full time power. I'll check that tomorrow to see if that works since it's on the same circuit.
I did some troubleshooting today. The antenna only works if I unplug it and plug it back in. Not sure what's going on there. My fuse blowing i believe was a bad power connection on the terminal block. Not sure how it was shorting, but after swapping it out, no problems. My bracket wasn't...
I tried to get the USB ports working but struck out. Alternatively I gutted the module and put in my own USB ports with conventional plugs. I also repurposed the aux port for a cubby light.
I also wrapped the console cover in flat black
All the lights work (power outlets, cubby light and...
Today I got the console cut up to accept the stereo. I also made a new mounting bracket for the front since the old one had to go.
Don't worry, I put a coat of primer on the bracket.
Tomorrow is wiring day. The goal is to have all the outlets and ports on the center console work. I...
I got my stereo today so I started the process of figuring out how to get it installed. I got the cover plate cut. It's a pretty good fit. The existing opening is slightly larger than the bezel. I may get a piece of laser cut plastic to extend the bezel area. I'll also be doing a wrap.
I hadn't even heard of semi auto antennas. The pics are really helpful, thanks. Sure would be easier with the fender off, but it shouldn't be too bad. I may not actually mind having the antenna go up all the way with the radio. I'll have to see if it goes up when the head unit powers on, or...
I made a to RMS today to get the rear end looked at. Turns out the caliper bolts, while not touching were close enough that during hard cornering were hitting the back of the brake rotor. We also reshimmed the caliper and that took care of it. Big thanks to RMS as I know that's not their...
Nice picture, good to see the original clearance. That might as well be a foot compared to what I have. I'm estimating 1/32" for mine. Maybe a 1/16th if I'm lucky. That's after the studs have flattened that side of the spring off and I ground down the heads of the studs a bit. Hopefully...
