For the record, unexpectedly my black car won the B-body Super Street Modified award. I was surprised to say the least when the name and car were summoned to the stage. I was content enough just to be flanked by a sea of A990's.
The orbital was your pitfall. As I noted earlier I would have done the sanding FIRST and wiped the top clean with lacquer thinner... but in this order the sanding should have been done with the paper wrapped around a piece of 2 x 2 wood and straight back and forth the length of the cover.
Prep work - Blasted with aluminum oxide then blown off and wiped down with acetone. Painting - Etching primer applied, 1 coat. Allowed to dry then the color was sprayed in lite coats, maybe 30 min between coats. Last coat was wet to the (my) eye. Sanding was done with 6" IR orbital sander...
1973-up Caliper Cores. They maybe fine as is but recommend going through. Unsure what they came off of exactly. Wasn’t getting much luck looking up the casting numbers. Can separate.

I pulled this out of my 66 Satellite with Hemi due to a front leak. So not correct for the engine. I suspect the leak was from the retainer bolts which were not sealed, but I have polished the input and put a new seal in it and sealed the retainer bolts. I replaced the rear seal and bushing a...
