    Exhaust manifold paint or coating

I sandblasted mine and painted them with Eastwood manifold paint over 30 yrs and 30k miles ago. They have discolored some but otherwise the paint held up very well. Pulled the engine a few weeks ago to freshen it up.

Lower Controll Arm Bushing Current Brands Available

I replaced the 30 yr old suspension parts on my Satellite last year with the same setup. I used Moog rubber LCA and UCA bushings along with ball joints and tie rod ends all from Craig @mobileparts. Poly sway bar, end link and strut rod bushings and 1.03 t-bars from PST. Pretty happy with the...

Suggestions on lower control arm bushing

Never mind. Looked at your pics again and it looks like you put something under the LCA to support the bushing while you pressed the pivot in.

Suggestions on lower control arm bushing

Seems like you could inadvertently push the inner sleeve out of the bushing doing it that way. I pressed the bushing onto the pivot so I could support the inner sleeve and then pressed that assembly into the LCA.

    Front End Alignment

On a stock setup, caster and camber are both adjusted by turning the UCA eccentric bolts/washers. A limited amount of caster is achievable with stock parts. Next step to get more caster is to use offset UCA bushings. You can upgrade to adjustable UCAs and/or strut rods for even more but it gets...

    Front End Alignment

I did my own alignment last summer after finishing a complete front end rebuild. First time I've done my own and I am happy with the results so far. I'll know more after I get more miles on it and can check tire wear. I also found that either the alignment shop that did it last didn't do it...

    Meet Simon

Sorry for our loss. They bring so much joy and love into our lives. It's never easy saying goodbye even when you know you are doing the right thing for them by letting them go. RIP Simon.

    Non car people be like

Our first house had an oversized 1 1/2 car garage. I restored my Satellite in it and then that's were it was housed while the daily drivers sat in the driveway. Summer of '98 we bought a brand new '99 300M. Neighbor across the street couldn't understand why the 300 sat in the driveway while I...

    Household LED Bulb Failure

I still use C9 incandescents for my outside Christmas lights because I like their warm glow a lot better than LED. We do use LED on the tree and I like them there. Yes, I do see an increase in my electric bill when we put the outside lights up, but it's only about a 5-6% increase for a month so...

    Any Driveway Mechanics?

Our first house had a 1 car garage. It was full while I was restoring my Satellite which wasn't moveable for a couple of years so I had to work on our other vehicles in the driveway. Our HOA frowned on that. I couldn't leave cars on jack stands or have tools, etc. laying around. Maintenance work...

    Tis the season

Very nice parade! We had our community parade through the neighborhood this past Saturday. It's usually a mix of classic cars/trucks, decorated golf carts, maybe a swamp buggy or two and people on horseback or in horse-driven carts. We had a decent turnout this year despite gusty winds and...

Good books you have read or re-read lately

I also like reading about history, mostly early American. One of my favorite books is The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. It's an historical fiction centered around the Battle of Gettysburg. The book won Pulitzer In 1975. For me, it was originally an assigned reading in an MBA program for...

Anyone else like to live far from other people?

While the idea of living somewhere rural appeals to me, there is a very practical aspect to where you live as Kern, RC and others have mentioned. We live on 5 acres in a neighborhood of ~320 similar size lots. We're currently between the edge of most civilization and the swamp to the west. The...
