    Frying noise from steering wheel?

Thanks for the info. Though blend the holes in the casting, wouldnt that produce lots of metal shavings? It sounds like it should be done on a bench with a good cleaning afterwards.

BS on changing tire alignment specs from stock.

I did drive stock for many years, then changed a lot of suspension/steering parts + a modern alignment. Now my charger is more fun to drive than all modern Normal/sport-cars I have tried. (Havent tried the new Challenger though.)

Time for a new carb. Advice?

Then it is a no-brainer. Slap on the 650 AVS2 with a Eddy 9266 gasket for heat protection. A very forgiving combo for the old engine.

Time for a new carb. Advice?

To the OP. Dont stare blindly at the cfm. Choose size in where you live in Rpm when you drive. Especially size of the primary venturi. Check my thread, those tests were done on a 413: My Carburetor journey.

Time for a new carb. Advice?

The repop of the Thermoquad is the Holley Street Demon 625/750. Awesome carbs. The 650 AVS2 has smaller primaries than the 800 and will give you a snappier response down low. (If you want that with that gearing?)

Red choke lever and leaky carb area with photos.

That Red lever returns your idle to normal when the choke has been heated up, it does so by falling down. There is another small metal lever coming from inside the choke house that keeps that red lever from falling down until choke is heated up. So, check the spring etc inside the choke house...

    Down leg or annular?

Nice going. I am also about to do this on my Indy intake...though what would be a smart way to check that the intake gets centered over the holes in the cylinder head? I guess marking the valley pan is one way.

    Down leg or annular?

Check out My Carburetor Journey thread. I went on tinkering til I found max top and bottom in the same carb. My Carburetor journey. Here if you want to test something really fun, it is the spreadbore way you should try out. For ex an 850 Thermoquad with those really small triple...

Any advice here as I also have the hissing sound transmitting up through the steering column? (I am not in the US.)

    Frying noise from steering wheel?

What hose and oil do you use? Did you use any extra shims in the pump? Im running a saginaw pump. And yes, the sound is louder at idle and almost goes away when actively turning.

    Frying noise from steering wheel?

No, it is as Bradfly posted. The noise is from the borgeson box and it is transmitting up through the steering column.

    Carter 4429 Whistling and Rich...Help!

Cool that you got it sorted. ....got me thinking, did the old spacer cover those idle passages on the bottom of the carb correctly?

    Carter 4429 Whistling and Rich...Help!

Depending on engine but mostly it gives a cleaner signal from the carb, try it.
