How did you find this camshaft, too small, too big for your setup. I was considering the similar camshaft with the larger lift. But I think your camshaft would suit mine.
65 Coronet, Edelbrock RPM heads and intake, 2800 stall, 3.9 gears. Street driven, no racing.
Hi, I bought a new Comp cam and when I opened the box to take a peek the lobes have kind of shiny wear patterns almost like it has been used. Is this normal from the grinding process? All the pictures on Comp Cams website show nice black lobes. It's been some time since I bought a new camshaft...
Thanks, I have pretty much the same set up. With XE285HL cam and 3.9 gears, 65 Coronet. I was going to use the new version of the 509 cam but decided on the XE285 instead.
Hi, so in my research about compression ratios I have discovered all about Dynamic compression and cranking PSI. I am reading that for pump gas your dynamic compression should be around 8 to 1 and 165 psi cranking pressure for an iron headed big block. Does this sound right?
The camshaft I want...
Hi, can I use steel shim gaskets for aluminum heads? Some posts say yes, some say no. I have a 440 with aluminum heads and to get 10.1 compression I calculated a .020 head gasket. Can anyone recommend a gasket I should use.
Thank you.
Thanks for everyone responding. I have other heads I could use. I bought a bulk lot of parts from a retired guy.
Would one of these others be a better head for this engine and my intended driving? No leaded fuel here.
The heads I have are,
stock 915 that need reconditioning
stock 906 that need...
Hi, I am putting together a mild street driven 440 and will use a set of 915 heads. The compression will be around 9.5, hp exhaust manifolds, Edelbrock RPM intake, 750 Edelbrock carb, Comp XE268 cam 224/230 dur 4.77/4.80 lift, 727 with 2000 stall, 3.23 rear gears in a 1964 Dodge Polara. Car will...
Hi, I am looking to buy a 11inch 2500 stall converter for my 1965 Coronet 440 build. Which converter company is recommended? Hughes, B&M, TCI, Summit have the B&M Tork Master for a sale price at the moment. Engine is a mild build with street duties only. An off the shelf converter is probably...
Thanks, your engine sounds pretty much like I plan to build. I have Edelbrock heads from a previous build I didn't use and was hoping to get away with using a stock convertor.
