I don't understand how you found spring heights shorter than the target number while not being shimmed to get there.

...Had to drill the two top holes in the core support not a big deal and use fender washers to hold the bottom .. But WOW does it cool,, gauge barely goes over 1/4 mark. with 185* stat.. going to have to up it to a 195* I think. I'll see how it goes this winter... very happy with it. with no shroud.

I have finished tearing down and measuring both heads. All were shimmed with the same thickness shim so they did nothing to try to equalize them. Not what I was expecting, even if they're the wrong height, because the line item on the invoice states that they would equalize them. I am still...

Great for small parts, I don't see it working on long gently curved piece like fender or quarter panel.

I would imagine its more difficult working with the car upside down. You should flip it back over.

Yep. Only factory aluminum heads I know of prior to 72 would be the incredibly rare sbc, big block chevy, and Hemi. All of those were high performance versions, and would have needed good seats. I'm not sure when aftermarket aluminum sbc heads showed up, but I bet they had good seats from day...
