You can get motor mounts with interlock plates within the rubber that limit the amount the engine can twist. They look stock, and you only need one for the driver side. This cured the problem of broken mounts on my 440, 4-speed '67 Coronet wagon. This way you do not need a torque strap or chain.

I had my 383 freeze up solid to the point where the water pump wouldn't turn and it popped out the two block heaters (in frost plug holes), but it didn't crack the block. I should have plugged in the heaters...
I bet a salesman or someone at the dealership broke it. He was the only owner. I was the second. I will try and get a better photo. It looks like there are punch marks that cover other marks?
Sorry, I'm not a good story teller. I started with them in 68, out of the group 3 did not make it home. I met them because one was my little league coach.. and all his friends would come help and the older guys would be in nice cars.
