    Scary Snow!

Wow a couple things The snow we get is wetter and heavier usually and more slippery. There are way to many cars around here as you know and the people are in a hurry and can't drive. The the local news gets them all spun up so they have to go out and buy milk, eggs and toilet paper. The...

    Scary Snow!

Amen. I've told the story on here about a nightmare storm back in my northern VA days, where I witnessed someone decapitated right in front of me on I-95. That event changed my life; in fact, if I never saw snow again, it'd suit me fine.

How cold does it have to be before it cracks the block?

If its only a couple of days at just below freezing you should be fine, especially if the temperature comes up over 32 during the day. Most all of us here are on well pumps and we typically don’t worry about our well pump houses freezing until it gets consistently in the teens, then we only...

Camshafts: All else being equal, what does an increase in LIFT have on performance?

Lift technically does not effect driveability ( look at all these new engines LS, 3 Gen) they all idle smooth and most are over or right at .500 lift. The idea of more lift at same duration is faster opening and closing of the valve resulting in being open further at any point the duration...

Camshafts: All else being equal, what does an increase in LIFT have on performance?

I always thought (in basic terms: More lift = valves opened more = more fuel/air in, more exhaust out = more power, similar to higher ratio rocker arms. Longer duration = valves opened longer = more fuel/air in, more exhaust out = more power. I haven't researched it though, I'm sure there's...
