I would think that your insurance company would go after the golf course for reimbursement. Unless they determine it isn't worth the hassle for just a windshield replacement. If the ball would have done more expensive body damage, then more likely.
Isn't that also a symptom of bad coil? Never had one do that myself but I seem to recall several reports of coils causing that issue.
