Is my math right? A 4 cycle engine at 2500 rpms fires each cylinder over 20 times a second?

At 2,500 RPM, a spark plug in a four-stroke engine fires 1250 times per minute per cylinder. Since a four-stroke engine has two rotations of the crankshaft for each firing event, each cylinder fires once every two revolutions. Therefore, for a 2,500 RPM engine, each spark plug fires 2,500 / 2 =...

Is my math right? A 4 cycle engine at 2500 rpms fires each cylinder over 20 times a second?

Are you sure about that? 4 cycles are Intake, compression, combustion and exhaust evacuation. That happens in 2 revolutions of the crank. TDC to BDC for intake. BDC to TDC for compression. That is one revolution. TDC to BDC for combustion. BDC to TDC for exhaust evacuation. Two revolutions...

She no longer calls it the roach. Once I get some shakedown miles on it, I’ll have to take her for a horror ride.

Fender Tag marking 1968 Plymouth GTX

No. Most plants had an inspectors stamp or way of indicating the car was inspected. Different plants did things differently and that's one way we can identify at which plant the car was built. Some punched tags, some used a second tag that was punched and some plants don't show anything...

    Breaking in cam and lifters

I have had engines run hot during a cam break in and limited the sessions to 10 minutes of run time, a brief cool down, 10 minutes again of run time, etc. I go the full 30 minutes collectively if the engine runs hot. Cam break in during Summer months usually requires that around here even with...

1970 Super Bee 383 Auto Stalling when hot

I have not read all the posts but if the engine dies suddenly with no warning or change in sound, it ids almost certainly electrical. If it is a fuel issue, there is usually a change in sound/feel of the erngine.

Is my math right? A 4 cycle engine at 2500 rpms fires each cylinder over 20 times a second?

First off a 4 cycle engine fires once every 4 revolutions. So 2500 divided by 4 divided by 60. 10.42 times a second if I'm thinking right. Still amazing.

Is my math right? A 4 cycle engine at 2500 rpms fires each cylinder over 20 times a second?

I was talking with my nephew today about how amazing that engines are and how it seems like everything has to go right for them to run as well as they do. I told him that at freeway speeds when an engine is running at say....2500 rpms, each piston fires about 20 times a second. I based this on...

Mopar Alley is still alive....and hosting their 33rd car show July 12th in Cupertino CA

I’ll be in Carlisle the day of the show and cannot attend. Literature says there will be no waiting at entry at De Anza in July. The Club Officer list looks promising. Mejia, and Art Thomas are sharp, motivated, Mopar Nuts. Others too. I will participate and support when schedule allows.

There has been some upheaval within the club this past year. They voted to disband but a group of dedicated members are working to keep the club going. Lets see if we can make it to the event and show our support. @Dennis H @68 Sport Satellite @1 Wild R/T @CoronetDarter
