Looks like you had multiple problems with this engine starting back in June.. First no spark then nooilpressure. Now cooling and running rich issues. Myself you signed the engine disaster book. You very well could have caused internal damage.
Just get in and go on a new Hemi car.
No pumping the pedal just right. Hoping the choke sets. Hoping the oilpressure comes up and stays. Listen to the lifters rattle. Eyes are watering from the rich mixture. And on and on for the old ones.
i have a brand new Autometer Ultra Lite Electric oilpressure gauge.. its 2 5/8". it was installed and ran for about 10 mins. Comes with sending unit... This is an electric gauge so no live oil line running through your firewall into the cab.. Part Number 4427.. Sales for $107.00 at Summit...
After any of the Chryslers engine were built they were test run using propane for fuel. There was generic hookups for water (hot) and the intake (no carb) done on a test stand way before being installed in the car, definitely not at 2200 rpm for 20 minutes. Just a break in engine oil (non...
9 years or so and she has been a good mill. 71 440 block, with 6bbl internals.
Of all the crappy times for my 440 to "give up the ghost" 2023 Cruisin the Coast is pretty bad.
Crazy thing is, I had absolutely NO warning. I just did an oil and filter change on my Roadrunner and my wife's GTO...
Finally! Oilpressure is back! It has been quite a journey. I installed the new Mellings oil pump, filled it and Fram filter with STP, and tried to prime the engine with no success. The red dash oil light stayed on, and the aftermarket mechanical gauge under the dash showed nopressure. This was...
take a look at your oil and check for a strong gasoline smell. no way should it burn 5 gallons in 18 minutes at 2000 rpm. you could easily damage the bearings with a lot of gasoline in the oil. a new engine will have considerable blow-bye until the rings get seated which is bad for the oil...
Waking up an old thread. Replaced intake gasket and it made no difference, then noticed external oil leak on drivers side, replaced valve cover gasket which had actually split apart (new gasket). Stayed dry for a day.
Oil is on drivers side only, comes down on top of starter, around...
Engine is 400/512 built by professional and run/tuned on dyno. No issues. Things got behind schedule and engine has been sitting for just under two years. Finally ready to go so I figured to spin the engine over with starter to build up some oilpressure. Spark plugs removed for this. Installed...
I don't mean this in a bad way, but the day of the flat tappet camshaft is over. Just like a lot of other things from my youth are over. I have been building engines since 1972, my first was a small block chevy that the oil pickup fell off of. The OEM stopped making flat tappet camshafts in...
Right here are your answers. No money or time in the engine? Go for it. Want to spin it over dry with nooilpressure? Then use this method. Pulling the distributor is a pain? You know what is a pain? Pullling the pan is a pain. Want to protect your investment? Prime it. No need to retime it...
Hello,
Do you have the part number of the kit you ordered from Mancini? I have a 67 Coronet with a 273 and it still has the canister filter. I'd like to switch it to the spin-on but when I checked the Mancini website, I didn't see the conversion kit.
Thanks.
actually, oilpressure gauge isn't hooked up-- that's something I need to prioritize and check for sure!
Like intake leak? No, but the noise is pretty obvious on the valve cover with a stethoscope, doesn't that eliminate it being an exhaust leak?
I Found the my 2022 5.7 RAM sensor works & Shows the correct temp just need to find a plug that fits sensor no 05149279AC
The GM sensor was out by 50 F
20-40..for 5500 to 6000 RPM….I’d be putting the HV oil pump you have on! It is a big block and easy to change.
You could try too run it with an extra quart of oil with the HV pump. Really won’t matter though, we have ran a HV pump with stock pans with no trouble at all. Most of the bearing...
That is kinda what we see around here too, granted we are not arizona with high ambient temps most of the year. It seems the fleet, police type vehicles had most of the problems, always blamed on idle time, I say oil change and proper oil is the key. I just do not buy the big oil pump on a 5.7...
New 383 in my coronet with about 100 miles on it. It was built and dyno ran before install. When i do a hard acceleration in 3rd gear oilpressure goes to zero. When I let up it goes back to 70psi. So I'm
assuming this is oil starvation? The pan has no baffles. Should I run more than 5 qt of...
I started working on the harness today. Haven't been looking forward to this part. Got a few issues identified. The MAT plug doesn't match my IAT sensor and it's a bit short. I think I'm going to have to order an adapter.
The oilpressure plug is not compatible with the sensor. Can I just...
