We are just finishing my 69' 383 engine with the .030 over KB162 pistons, stock 383 magnum cam, using the 67' 915 closed chambered heads, and .025 (mancini said the .020 was no longer made)steel head gaskets. anything to do to avoid any problems with the setup?

I think a lot of the adhesives mentioned would work, but first I would brush rust converter on the rotted section, then use brush on rustoleum to prep it.
You can get it pretty clean yourself.......
Clean black section with petrol & then finish with car polish.
On the alum top & base, use domestic paint stripper. It cleans off all the crud.
Rebuild kit & rebuild..
Disconnect the rod that connects the carb to the lever mechanism on the rear of the engine.
Best done with two people: bush back on the lever until it goes no further. Note where the KD lever on the trans is. Disconnect the rod that hooks to this rod.....& see if you can push the KD lever...
My car is a 67, but 235/70 on the front which fit and look good IMO, and of course the aforementioned 295/50 on the back.. which work well because the leafsprings are " stout"

My first new car was a 67 Satellite, and nothing was offered as a higher trim level. If you wanted more you went to the GTX, which was outwardly different trim, but the interior was the same as the Satellite, except for emblems.
Father in law talked about these 25 years ago. He was a big Petty fan, and owned a bunch of Mopars over the years.
