Probably inferior foam which doesn't have the same level of comfort and density.......totally different chemical makeup.

Legendary has always had the reputation for the best foam. Several upholstery shops I talked to says it's the best. It's what I bought for the '62 buckets. You pay a premium for it but the old saying...

Summit foams are cheap because they are heavier material?

You could use a disc sander to put that cone on the end of aluminum round stock of the proper diameter. Polish it and cut it off. Glue it in the center.
