Loss of situational awareness by the blackhawk. Had visual on the wrong aircraft and was 150' higher than the 200' max altitude along the river route. 100% the PIC of the blackhawk caused this accident. The fact both aircraft were on separate frequencies certainly does not help but I don't think...
The landing plane had priority for that airspace, he helo was supposed to have visual and was told to cross AFTER the plane had passed. The ATC could have given the helo more info as to relative location but it was on the helo to have visual and avoid.
The motor is a 440 (not the original one) edelbrock manifold, 4 barrel holley double pumper carb. Has aftermarket aluminum heads but I forgot the brand.

Cummins motors live forever under just those circumstances....and inline motors are by nature, torque monsters. Just look at the old 4.0 Jeep motor. If it was designed properly for the intended use, it should do just fine. Just like the Cummins, and the 4.0.
