I would suggest considering 440Source aluminum heads and the smaller Summit cam (6400) with a Summit chain.
Spend a bit more on the heads and save on the cam.
With just bolt on parts this should give you really good mid-range power.
Here is what I am thinking about. Buy a 440source 3.75 stroke crank, reuse the stock rods, .055 overbore with forged Icon FHR pistons, (for a Pontiac) . The cam, heads , and the rest of the drivetrain would remain the same. It would end up as a low deck 413. What do I gain? A little over...
Considering a 750 Quick Fuel for the 440 I’ve putting together. The engine has zero deck height, 440sourceheads, a mild cam and will have headers.
This will be in a street car ‘68 Charger, and projected HP around 500. Looking at an performer rpm intake.
I have a Quick Fuel 650 on a 340 and...
...bolted on my drag radials and got two runs in. I went a best of 12.6 at 106.
The engine combo is:
440
10:1 compression
Stock 440sourceheads
Howards cams hydraulic roller
Holley 770
Holley street dominator dual plane
Schumacher headers
3.23 gears
Turbo action 10" converter
28" mt drag...
...a good starting point, and all I did was put an aluminum intake, and magnum manifolds on, ran it for a bit, had some fun. Then put 440sourceheads on, ran it for a bit. Rear main seal started leaking so I pulled it out, and put a lunati 703 voodo cam and headers on it. I haven’t been able to...
Say a guy has a 451 that dyno's 530 hp and 535 ft.lbs. with ootb 440Source Stealth heads that are advertised as flowing 260 cfm. If the only change is installing a set of ootb Trick Flow 240's and longer pushrods, what can be expected for a performance gain since the TF's are advertised as...
So here’s the parts, a bunch of gaskets, and a Lunati voodoo 703. I already put 440sourceheads on it, so this cam and a set of headers should really wake up the granny 440
...is built with cam, rpms, etc. I don't have a total apple to apple comparison but I have used both the 440source and TF 240 heads.
440sourceheads440 .030 over 10.5: 1
Mopar .590 cam
TTI 2" headers
TF 240 heads440 .040 over 10.9:1
Mopar .557 cam
TTI 1 3/4" headers and than Hooker 2"...
Just following up on what others have mentioned...
"If" you want to do new pistons, or perhaps it was bored back in '99 w what was available then? Make sure the machine shop uses a torque plate to hone it. Buying a forged piston w a narrower ring pack like 1/16 or metric, it frees up some hp...
From what I can tell……
The changes to the combo are a freshen up and a bump up in compression?
No additional head or manifold porting from the previous build?
What was the resolution to the rocker arm dilemma ?
I have a generation 1 RobbMc starter on my 440 with 2 1/8 TTI step headers. When I called TTI they said the starter that fit the best with their headers was a RobbMc. The idiot who built the car put the 2 1/8 TTI step headers on however when I looked on the TTI website the 2 1/8 headers are...
I'm looking for. .060 or .055 440 pistons that will go on stock rods and I'm looking for at least 10:1. New or used and would also like rings if possible.
Also looking for 440sourceheads. New or used.
Price range? If money is no object my vote is the trick flow 240’s followed by the Edelbrock rpm’s.
If you are money conscious I’d look no further than the stealth heads from 440source.
If you are cheap/poor like me, wait for Black Friday and run the speedmaster victor copies with their...
I’d take a look at the results from engine masters on motor trend television. Spend a couple of bucks on a subscription to stream it. It’s well worth it and you can do all the watching you need to in less than a month. They did an episode specifically on easy cylinder head upgrades for the 440...
Thank you for your input. Unfortunately the clown who built my Super Bee put on TTI 2 1/8 step headers which per TTI's website are not a suitable matched/compatible to 440Source Stealth heads. TTI recommends the RobbMc mini starter with their headers however state will fit "most"...
Pretty sure there are three different springs for cams HFT, solid roller, or hydraulic roller. I wish the Trick Flows were available 10 years ago when I bought my Indy EZ's. Indy heads were not the best quality back then not even close to how nice the TF 240's are out of the box.
