The groove is caused by the check ball moving back and forth in the channel. This is a normal condition. As long as the hole where the ball seats is undamaged there will not be an issue. I build these by the dozen. Never had this condition cause an issue. Doug

Yes: I always thought it looked cool on the quarter panel. First thing I did when I had my 67 GTX painted. It may have been a bit of a GM thing though as it seemed to be a factory option on a lot of GM products in the 60's.
