Yes, heads and intakes will differ in weight for a variety of reasons, but a heavier type might perform better and outweigh the difference. Even carbs can be funny as I found my new thumper carb was a full 2 lbs + lighter than my last one.
The WD-40 helps prevent the gaskets from sticking, or sticking as much, on a later disassembly. It also makes the gaskets more pliable so they can conform to surfaces better when the top cover is tightened down.
Couldn’t agree more. I believe there is only one forged flat top that will give you 9.5 w open chamber heads and.020 gaskets. All the rest suck and kill power

Oil sampling is a great idea to determine any hidden concerns, too bad you changed oil. If you still have the filter cut the can off, remove a chunk of filter pleating off, squeeze the oil out in the jaws of a vise and open the pleating up. If there is metal in the oil you will see it. This is...

That's why I started this thread, I have seen tons of pictures with out the rod and only a few with it. I don't think it will really make a difference if I don't install it, but I'm weird when it comes to stuff like that. If it's supposed to be there and I don't put it back it will bother me...

Yes, I had bolted in the right position. I put the dash on the side bolts and rolled it up, but the tach was going to hit the rod. I took the rod of and installed the dash. I had a buddy over helping me so I just installed the dash without the rod because I didn't know when I would get him back...
Sounds simple enough.
I may have a bent pushrod (unless the end isn't machined correctly). Maybe my problem, seeing how the lifters look fine upon initial inspection.
