First thing I do is to change the oil before putting it up for the winter months, can't believe all the guys that wait until spring to change their oil, why let that dirty oil and all the crap settle in the bottom of the oil pan only to be circulated through the engine on start up in the spring...
To me it depends on what you think reliability is. They took a lot more maintenance like ignition and oil changes. 100k to 150k miles was about it until rebuild unless the body was turning into iron oxide. I always wondered why new engines seem to last longer. Is it better oil, metal use, fuel...
I still say everything could be fine. When people get low hot oil pressure they think they have a "bad" oil pump. No. These oil pumps almost never give it up. I started a 55 year old Road Runner with the original oil pump a few months ago. The pressure relief was stuck. I don't know how much oil...
...original R12 and R134A are not. What are the operating pressures and expected evaporator temperature, what is the condenser pressure, whatoil is used, is it compatible with the existing Thermostatic Expansion Valve characteristics and hoses and fittings? No one seems to ASK THESE...
If it’s sucking oil like that it doesn’t matter what heat range plug you use
Let’s see a clean plug in one of the cylinders that is not one or three
Pictures of those clean plugs
Thanx
Why does it need more oil pressure? He has 70-80 at cold idle, is that to low, because it too will be going up a lot with 50w oil. How is more oil pressure going to cool the valve springs at idle?
Flow provides more cooling, pressure is resistance to flow. Thicker oil doesn't flow as much as...
I’m not so sure anyone’s going to have a solid answer. In the meantime maybe check out what other cars requirements are with similar sized components and the sanden compressor from the factory. Maybe there’s a refrigerant-to-oil ratio that a happy medium.
Just thinking out loud
LOL I think i'll keep her around for a while. well long while as my wife loves the car as much as I do.
when I got the car late August, it had sat a while and had a 120 mile drive home. I changed the oil before driving home as it was old. I used rotella 15w40 for the ride home, changed it the...
I have found no one wants to know about warranty when it means shipping to Australia
I May have found the answer when the started from cold it takes 4 to 5 seconds for the oil to start pumping out the lifters if i open up the restrictors to speed up the process my oil pressure starts to drop...
I haven’t done a modern swap but know from others who have that it is not cheap and will cost more than what you think, every time. Even with a 5.7. Stand alone wiring harnesses, oil pan and pick up, exhaust, complete fuel system, all the fit stuff, and then custom ‘needed to do’ nips and cuts...
Hey all,
I have fully rebuilt my 1966 Charger. I rebuilt the wiring harnesses as well, nose to tail. Everything is up and functioning except the Temperature and Oil Pressure gauges. Both sensors are NEW.
I think I should be getting about 5v at the sensors since the wiring diag. shows 5v. What...
...with stiffer valve springs without putting yourself at risk. Some additives can protect you but who knows what additives are compatible with whatoil? If anyone has done extensive studies on that, I’d love to know. A reader here uses GM Oil Supplement. He has had no failures so that is worth...
The first few times I heard the rear-end howl (on deceleration) I was sure it was coming from the transmission, but turned out to be the differential. At least one of these experiences was from a failing U-joint. So it can be tough to distinguish one from the other. You may need to confirm...
Fuel, air, compression, and spark. Something is affecting one or more of these. What is the compression? If it was running rich or oil fouled, a new plug in that hole would run until it was fouled. What intake manifold do you have? Intake leak at that cylinder? Compression test and leak down...
That Works Too !
You’ll Find out when you wheel it in a dry
Rocky River bed …..
KaaRaaCrunch..
PS
4.0 Six Banger Tip…My 2000 TJ Was loosing
Oil pressure ….it would be fine at 1500rpm &
Up , but at idle it was almost zero….???
Guess what !
The Oil Pump Was an alloy housing with cast iron gears ...
Before I start, yes, I read all related threads and yes, I should just take off the valve covers and evaluate. Until I can do that, this is bugging me and I’m inquiring to see if there is something obvious I could be missing—>
I noticed a lifter tick upon taking an off ramp (right turn) at a...
More of a dark gray color, I see they have a mega black color which I assume would be even darker. I don’t think you want to skip the oil step at the end of the process, that’s what provides corrosion protection.
