The removable top lid was a 1850 type replacement that didn't have that dumb transfer tube and gaskets below the fuel bowl line. I thought they would have eliminated the 1850's and transfer tube types. But I think they still make them?

The OP is saying there's a 74 emissions decal on a 73 style hood on his 74 car. NOT that's it's different.

I took drivers ED in highschool. 1970. 12 simulator stations. 3 on the tree column shift with gas, brake, and clutch pedals. An auto trans in the New Yorker for the road test. That hood looked 9 miles wide sitting in the drivers' seat.

I had one. It did everything as needed.

The different emissions decal lends towards the hood being swapped when new on the lot or nearly new when they would be on the wrecking yard. Ever work at a car dealership and see the swapping that happens to sell a car? Lots of it went on. I got to do a good amount of it.
