My cool neighbor had a Harley catch fire out of nowhere a couple months ago. Parked in the garage. He managed to put it out before too much damage was done and then discovered his wife somehow had a 70K policy on it and should have let it burn. Just some suped up FXR. I'm pretty good with bikes...
Speaking of carbs, does anyone remember this carb?
Iirc it was a Holley.
I bought it brand new from the local parts store along with the Edelbrock intake.
It was a great carb, I remember the top came off in one piece making it easy and mess free to adjust the floats.
Yep been another hell winter here. Snowfall miniscule, temps super low, always violently windy, second year in a row my season snowboard pass went to waste (last year it was $700+ down the tubes, this year $400+) and both of my ankles have been severely injured since December so I'm just...
beer time in the shop is how I rebuilt my 440, and none of my buddies know anything about motors!
it was slow but got done. sometimes it is easier to have a helping hand and throw the hood on the roof with a moving blanket under it.
Had to be like 12. Took a friend's mom's Benson & Hedges. It was minty! I grew up in the heyday of cool Marlboro and Camel ads and free stuff. So if you weren't cut out to be a starting varsity football player and still wanted to get laid cigarettes were pretty much the first prop you acquired...
The biggest thing is are they bent right for proper fitment? Then you also need the correct dipstick for the tube. Myself I would try to find the correct tube and stick.
Very unlikely but perhaps worth mentioning.
I have a good friend that had his out 3 times due to a front leak.
He finally determined he had a thin spot in the casting that developed into a pin hole near the front pump.
Very difficult to find.
I did the same, never smoked in the house or the vehicles, started at 14. I was a "positive effect" user. A reward after I made a delivery on schedule, or on the courthouse steps after I got a good result. Quit cold turkey for the last time, 20 years ago. Was on a steady run to Kentucky...
It's been around for years and is a decent carb. Just like any of them. Holley, Edelbrock, QFT, APD, Book, Braswell, Proform, XRB, AED, XRC, Pro Systems, IRD, KB Carbs, Chuck Nuytten, Williams, etc. They all need some tweaking and tuning.
Im going to try what pnora suggested. Drill down just past the threads, then push out the needle from the butterfly side and then try a tap. I dont need the carb, but in working condition it should be useful to someone.
