If you have a 68 R/T an original carb would be a 4429 for an automatic. 4428 for 4 spd. All of the AVS's I've seen had the short brass screws behind the plugs. What number carb do you have?
Hood off and jack the *** of the car way up. It makes sliding the engine and trans out super easy if you are pulling the trans too. The nose on the 71 and up is super long and hard for the hoist I have to get to the center of the block. I jacked up the rear of the car super high and engine and...

I see the 3/4" (give or take) spacing but can't picture how that goes in there, unless the big tunular spacer is narrower by the thickness of the flat piece?
Also, since you were kind enough to reply, do you recall what part number your compressor mounting brackets were?
Hood has to be off.
An alternative: if you're planning on also updating the suspension, drop the engine/trans from below, still on the K-frame.
I just did the drop on my Dart as I'm updating the suspension and replacing the clutch and pressure plate while rebuilding the engine.
Your question could be answered with some detail if you provided the vin of your bird. These casr were built over a few months. Early versus late would have different date codes. In general, manifolds should be dated in the 8/69 to 11/69 range. With 11/69 being late for some cars.
