I don't remember seeing this in the old days??

What a great idea - handy for hill starts too.

    Gear Vendors on a A833

800 rpm drop is HUGE. My rpm at 70 mph used to be 3,100 with the 727. Switching to a TKX with a .81 O/D it dropped to about 2,400 rpm. That 700 rpm drop makes a massive difference, to noise, mpg and mechanical wear. Heck, even 500 rpm is significant. Ask others who've done similar swaps e.g...

    Gear Vendors on a A833

    I think you've made a mistake in your calcs. For 4.10 gears with a 26" tire I get 2,900 rpm at 70 mph with a .78 O/D, and 3,700rpm with a 1:1 ratio at the same mph.

    Overdrive on 318 Poly

Service/adjust the existing transmission. If it's working properly it will be far from clunky. It's probably already got a 2.76 rear, perfect for highway cruising.

    Wacky Races, live action movie.

"Live Action Movie" yet no live action. Even A.I. says it's not real, how ironic. AI Overview There is no official Wacky Races movie with a 2025 release date, so there is no official cast. The cast lists you may find online are for unofficial, fan-made concept trailers or fantasy casting, which...

WHAT IS YOUR SKILL SET WORTH?

We were told a similar story by our teacher in primary school in about 1982. The boiler is broken and the repairman comes, whacks it with a hammer and gives the client a bill for $500. "$500! All you did is hit it with a hammer. How did you come up with that cost?" The repairman replies "Hitting...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

I think it's worse with older carburetted cars than modern computer controlled engines. Fuel wash from rich idle mixtures, diluting the oil. I don't like idling mine when cold either. The idle rpm is lower and the oil is thicker so I reckon the oil flow will be less.

I'm getting close to switching to a roller cam in the big block!

Maybe to limit the wear from the "scraping" that will occur - rather than the 2 surfaces rotating against each other they will also be rubbing against each other horizontally?

FBBO member RJRENTON "Bob" has passed away.

Your "directness" is callous. It's also disrespectful. You are also mistaken, and as OneWheelPeel has stated, as you appear to have very limited skills in understanding this social environment. Bob copped a lot for sure, but the vast majority was "piss taking", look it up if you don't...

Where did you and your car go today

It must be hard having to put the car away for winter...but the benefit is it allows you to work on it stress free. Whenever mine is off the road I'm always fretting because I'm missing opportunities to take it out. This was last Saturday, beautiful day.

Any benefit to a tubular K-frame that retains T-bars ?

If you're attaching an engine that weighs 600 lbs and the most you can realistically save is 22 lbs (that's if you could halve the weight of the factory unit) with an unproven design of unknown strength and durability, then as said above - why bother? But - you said you have extensive skills...
