As a counterpoint to this I bought an Edelbrock AVS2 just over a year ago and it's now sitting in a box. Just never performed properly, blocked annular boosters, maybe casting issues, wasn't at all what I was expecting. Bought the tuning kit, followed the tuning charts and always felt as flat as...
If it all checks out it has to worth around the asking price...and you're buying from an actual person who hopefully has all the history on the car, and not some auction house or classic car dealer that will tell you anything to get a sale.
Go for it.
I like Uncle Tony (rare around here) and don't mind his rambling delivery either (very rare around here), but when I was watching the original video I thought "what the hell is he on about, he not comparing apples with apples". How he could have jumped to the conclusions he did and called them...
I'm sure the TKO has multiple shifter positions - look on internet or ring Tremec.
Changing location of the shifter is fairly straightforward on the TKX - I imagine the TKO is similar. You should be able to get it close to or the same as the factory location.
I have a TKX in mine.
I'm very lucky in that I can drive mine year 'round. Having that "downtime" would be nice in some ways to allow major projects to be undertaken without stress, but overall having to park them up for months at a time would suck.
Warm summer nights are my favourite time to drive, but nice sunny...
Surely Kern Dog is correct here, at least that's how I've always viewed it too. The rear of the bar is fixed (i.e. the hex doesn't turn), and the front gets rotated by the adjuster, putting more "twist" on the bar.
As the suspension goes up or down the twist increases or decreases, but the...
Another vote for LEED Brakes.
I got my kit from them through PST but you can go direct to them. Used my stock spindles, no issues, excellent customer service.
Well you can buy knock-off carburetors for a very enticing price too, but doesn't mean you should.
Brakes are the one area you don't want to take a chance on, for yourself and the other road users. Tread carefully:
“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low...
I would contact Toms Classic and ask them who is the brake supplier that is supplying the kit, or is it all sourced direct from China.
PST use Leed Brakes for some (or all) of their conversion kits. Leed Brakes no doubt get parts from China, but at least you're dealing with a US company with...
Valid point - location can play a big part, especially elevation. Where I live at sea level I have no issues. Don't need a choke, even in winter, and haven't had any hot starting issues even at 100 degree plus, but heat plus elevation would be a bad combo I'm sure.
Having a good carb in proper...
A question for the OP - why are you "looking to ditch the carb"? Are you having a specific issue?
I'm not against EFI in general, but a good carb can be perfectly reliable, start on the first turn of the key after sitting for 2 weeks, run clean, and get good mileage.
Plus they look super cool...
I cut a washer to make 2 small steel blocks and JB Welded them under the arm to limit the travel. Thinner or thicker washers to vary the amount of allowable advance.
I always thought (in basic terms:
More lift = valves opened more = more fuel/air in, more exhaust out = more power, similar to higher ratio rocker arms.
Longer duration = valves opened longer = more fuel/air in, more exhaust out = more power.
I haven't researched it though, I'm sure there's...
You can call me a boring old man...but I think you have a great car as it stands and you should maybe re-think your goals.
Why 11 seconds? What prompted that goal? Once you get to 11's you'll want 10's and so on.
I'm in a similar boat to you, but just have a few more years of thinking.
I'm at...
