There should be a skid plate on the K member to alleviate the depth of the pan to a point IMO, If it doesnt leak, I wouldnt change it. As long as you know its theere , you wont do dumb stuff to hurt said pan

I believe there is a screw behind the console there that secures the console body to a floor mounted metal bracket
