I found my cam card - it’s a Comp Cams XE274H-10 part #21-224-4 advertised 274/286 .488/.491. It’s a pretty tame cam with a moderate “thump” at idle and seems to work well with the 2.76 gears/4-speed.

The slinger is pressed between the chain drive sprocket and the hub of the damper, all which are bolted together and torqued to over 100 ft lbs. How can the slinger float?

Here's another vote for the foot dimmer switch. Mine corroded over the years and the bad connection caused it to overheat and melt the connector plug which led to a worse connection.
It all has to come out. I am not familiar with that particular style. The ones I am used to were just one large bushing with the smaller needle bearing.
