This is the correct distributor vacuum advance for the
following with 340 CID engine and electronic ignition:
1970-71 Plymouth Barracuda - 'Cuda - Duster...
340 LH Exhaust Manifold with casting number 3751084-2. There is no pitting anywhere on this manifold, could easily pass as an NOS piece due to the cleanliness of it. Casting date of 8-8-72. $100 plus shipping. PP F&F, check, or M/O.

Fyi...a 318 LA head also has smaller intake and exhaust ports then the 340 and 360 did. Even if someone was building a stroked 318...I would use a head with the bigger ports. 340 and 360 had bigger valves as well, at least on the older engines. I wouldn't consider using a LA 318 head on a...

Nice project. Nice of your wife to do for you. I would certainly bore and stroke the 340 since you already have it. I have had a couple of mildly built 340's that would run right with some 440's. 340's are no slouch.

If you go for an aluminum replacement, I would suggest you stick with a dual plane manifold. They help with low end torque which your 340 needs (I had a 73 Road Runner with a 340 for 42 years). Overall, I don't think you will see a huge performance gain though.
