I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not. Didn’t the IHRA shut down a track in FLA and try to sell the land for warehousing?
https://dragillustrated.com/umtr-north-announces-2025-schedule/
I'm not sure if this counts as getting my car in a magazine, but it's as close as I'll ever get.
UMTR just published their 2025 schedule, and Magnolia isn’t on it. I asked and was told Magnolia wasn’t opening.
I did a little digging and the only thing I could find online was that there are a couple of no-prep races that are supposed to happen, but nothing else.
I can’t say I’m...
UMTR had a 2 day race at Dragway 42 this weekend (separate race each day.)
Since I pissed away my lead in Columbus 2 weeks ago I came into the weekend in second by 1 point with the 3rd place guy 1 point behind me.
I also had to get the car back in shape after spitting out a pushrod last...
It’s 11:10 pm and still waiting the call for 1st round elimination.
In the test and tune classes every other run they have to check the track for oil.
Do you guys think maybe this is because tracks don’t even pretend to tech the cars anymore?
UMTR had a North vs South race in Columbus at National Trails Saturday. I went into the race with a 13 point lead in the North Street Stick class.
Fell alseep on the line and lost an easy race in the first round.
At the end of the day I was in second by one point. At least I still have a chance...
I switched out my old Hooker headers with 1.75" primaries and 3" collectors for a set of Dougs headers with 2" primary 3.5" collectors.
Neither of these have collector extensions.
I got out to the track Friday night, and found that the car slowed quite a bit
60' 1/8...
This year I am trying to compete in the United Manual Transmission Racers (UMTR) North series. It goes from track to track in north east Ohio. My equipment is legal for Street Stick, and that is a 2-step and clutch tamer for launch.
I’m also racing locally at Quaker City Motorsports Park which...
I’ve been doing a lot of test and tune runs trying to get my act together this spring.
At Quaker City TNT is 1/4 mile. It’s hard to beat that feeling running out the quarter, letting it all hang out.
Put on a pretty good thrash the last few days to get ready to race.
My son and I headed out to Quaker City this morning. Got about 15 minutes away and checked Facebook on more time. Canceled because of the weather forecast.
Looks like it wiped out the races all over Ohio.
UMTR North had its banquet last night. 2023 was my first year racing with them, and although I didn’t do as well as I’d hoped, I came in 9th in points.
I didn’t know they were giving awards to the top ten so it was a nice surprise.
I finally got my car on the scales
3405 with 1465 on the rear.
3655 with me in it.
That’s about 150 less than I thought.
Now I’m a little less proud of my engine.
I’ve been close several times this year, but race more 1/8 than 1/4.
Tonight at Quaker City for test n tune, and gamblers race.
Went red 1st round of gamblers, but the car was running well, traction pretty good, and air was cool so I made 1 more tnt pass.
11.983 111.06 mph. Feels pretty good.
I switched over from Super Stock springs to Clavert split mono leafs this year.
I also went to larger front tires so I could lower the front end some.
The car is leaving much better, I don't have to steer it at all. Last year I was all over the track.
Of course, now I have other problems. My...
I have a single pole master cut off switch installed now. Problem is that the alternator keeps the engine running when the switch is cut.
This also seemed to kill my Denso alternator while I was testing it.
So Im installing a 2 pole switch and I want to get it right the first time.
I have 3...
This seems pretty cool. Out of my league but nevertheless I know some of you guys will want to try it out.

Dash for cash is everyone puts in 5 bucks and makes a pass. Whoever is closest to their dial without breaking out or red lighting wins (1/2?) the pot.
I ran 7.662 on a 7.66 dial.
Really thought it was going to by my day, even though the car was giving me a little trouble, but I went out in the...
