You didn't say how long it has been sitting. I am in the process of starting 5 old Mopars (2 Challengers and 3 Road Runners) that haven't been started in over 25 years. It's amazing how few of problems we've had. We've got 3 running and 2 to go. It's been fun. I'm not going to say what we did is...
Here it is awhile later and I'm still a bit curious about this issue.
I made a 900 mile road trip recently and had 20 psi at warm idle. Rolling down the freeway at 70, approx 2100 rpms, I'm at 39 psi. That seems low to me.
There are instances where numbers you read don't inspire confidence but...
Thank you for taking the time to respond and give advice on the procedure.
I did remove the pump thinking I wanted the high volume feature anyway and I know it worked well on my engine before with less than 20,000 cause it was a season cruise only car.
The pump I removed looked like the...
EXCELLENT REVIEW AND PRESITENTION. I've mentioned before, on my RS23V0A****** GTX, with 0.002"-0.0025" main and rod bearings clearance and 10W-30 Mobil1 (plus 1 pint ZDDP) oilpressure cold @ 2500 RPM = ~80 psi and at 180 degree temp @ 3000 RPM, oilpressure is 65-70 psi with a HIGH VOLUME...
I got a factory idiot oil light so I installed an aftermarket gauge cluster (Volts/Temp/Oil). Had a scare last year with an engine noise I thought could be deadly. Wound up being something simple. I watch my oilpressure more often these days as a result.
I have no tach so my two most important...
I don't think bleeding the line will change the pressure reading. Any oil in the line will give you a true pressure reading. It's like an pressure line that has no liquid in it but still gives you a pressure reading.
I received enough good advice on troubleshooting my oilpressure problem searching old threads, I figure I may as well join. Regarding the oilpressure, it suddenly went to "0" on a 40k RB that has always maintained excellent OP. NoOil from the pressure sensor port. No knocking, but valve...
Excellent news.
Time and patience pay off.
I prefer to leave the hood off for a while.
It runs cooler and it's so much easier to check for leaks, double check valve cover bolts and such.
And it's pretty bad ***.
I know for a fact that the new box I just got in is mounted a tad sharper and closer to the firewall but mine aint that sharp and it also has a different type of brace than my old one has. My PS pump only has 1 shim in it and the first 500 miles it’s felt great and at idle setting still you...
What harness and ECU are you using?
Not sure what to say about the MAT deal but I am sure there is a work around. As far as it being too short, I'd just lengthen the wires by cutting them in staggered fashion so that the cuts are not next to each other, then I would use a butt connector and...
Update
Update: I ditched the chineseum Carter pump, regulator and pressure gauge and put in the EB pump. Engine operates perfectly with no flooding. I timed the engine back to 12 BTDC, adjusted the carb, and it idles smoothly at 750 rpm. Not bad for sitting idle for basically 27 years (one...
Looks like you had multiple problems with this engine starting back in June.. First no spark then nooilpressure. Now cooling and running rich issues. Myself you signed the engine disaster book. You very well could have caused internal damage.
Just get in and go on a new Hemi car.
No pumping the pedal just right. Hoping the choke sets. Hoping the oilpressure comes up and stays. Listen to the lifters rattle. Eyes are watering from the rich mixture. And on and on for the old ones.
After any of the Chryslers engine were built they were test run using propane for fuel. There was generic hookups for water (hot) and the intake (no carb) done on a test stand way before being installed in the car, definitely not at 2200 rpm for 20 minutes. Just a break in engine oil (non...
i have a brand new Autometer Ultra Lite Electric oilpressure gauge.. its 2 5/8". it was installed and ran for about 10 mins. Comes with sending unit... This is an electric gauge so no live oil line running through your firewall into the cab.. Part Number 4427.. Sales for $107.00 at Summit...
9 years or so and she has been a good mill. 71 440 block, with 6bbl internals.
Of all the crappy times for my 440 to "give up the ghost" 2023 Cruisin the Coast is pretty bad.
Crazy thing is, I had absolutely NO warning. I just did an oil and filter change on my Roadrunner and my wife's GTO...
