My mom's birthday today too. Sam was killed just a few miles (5?) from my house by a drunk juvenile on the wrong side of the road (AZ95, from Needles, on the way to Laughlin for a show). Kid got a light slap on the wrist. Sam's wife of a couple weeks was with him, she survived.

I had a narrowed 8 3/4 under a V8 Vega. Shortened resplined axles. They weren't rehardened properly. Twisted the splines with G60-14 street tires...... but they never broke. The 55-57 chevy 10 bolts I (and many others) broke, always broke where they necked down right after the splines. I think...

The ONLY iron head I would consider for a 408 would be a W2, and by the time you get the heads put together, and the offset rockers, you'll have a lot more in em than speedmasters. I know PORTED W2's will destroy the speedo's, but who ports iron any more? I do not know how good UN-ported W2's...
