I added gussets around every open area. Does it help? I don't know but it makes sense to reinforce areas that seem like they could flex. If you have a soft suspension and skinny tires, you may not be stressing the steering box mounts enough to warrant any improvements.

Different year of course but my 65 500 is a factory a/c car. All the plumbing was right behind the distributor[ on the 318]. Heater, expansion valve etc. All got capped off and moved since I'm using a 70 K-frame which moves the engine back 1.5".
