I've got some play on my new 16.1 ratio manual steering box and already adjusted the screw a few turns. The steering gear needs a minimum amount of play.
I'm looking for an alternative to make it steer more firm. I want to reuse my electric PS which is mounted on the steering column.

On marine engines that turn left, there is a long flanged cast iron tube that fits down inside that prevents the gear from moving up. They use a longer distributor shaft to make up for the flange thickness.
So what I'm getting from all of this is.
My valvetrain is not happy and the geometry while not perfect is not the cause.
Any ideas on what it could be? Could it be an issue with the rockers?
i know that 73 was a weird year for these cars, will i need to do anything to get bigger tortion bars in there? or will it just accept bigger bars? like will i need to drill anything out wider to accept the bigger bar or will it just fit? im planning on changing the k member bushings to poly...
Does it still have the fender tag? If so and it has a "A75" code on it, it is a GT... or should I say "was" a GT.
The emblems on the front fenders should tell also, do they read XE or GT?
Appears to be witness marks on the fenders from fender flares too, so my hunch is that it was a GT.
