Ask any Glide using racer how many extras he has in his trailer. A buddy of mine has a 800+ horse wedge in his Duster with a 727. He got 1500 passes before he had an issue. He slipped in his outdated back up and was back racing for the Sunday finals.
Doug, is converter choice more related to horsepower, or rpm?
(Example, a 7000 converter wouldn't do me much good with an engine shifted at 6000, even if I made 1000 hp, which I certainly don't, lol)
Did you try any of that slick-ease(?) or some such for pulling wires? Used to use it when making wire conduits on buses. Don’t remember the name, but it was like lard consistency and would slowly evaporate.
I had @HALIFAXHOPS set me up a factory dist... Setting up the curve isn't fun.. but it has never given me an issue. He would probably setup the curve before shipping if you let him know your needs...

That condition of where the low battery voltage possibly leading to ECU/Spark issues may be a real thing. The battery could be just charged enough to start the car but not have enough reserve if the carburetor were dry. If it started within 15 seconds...
