What cars did you buy for 2-300 bucks back in the day?

I traded a 100cc Yamaha twin and $50 for my first car. A 65 Dart 270 post car with a HP273 and a 3 on the tree. White with red interior. The frickin' thing screamed. Well to a 16 year old it did. Oh and it had 13" bias ply tires on it. Of course it would smoke that one tire for blocks! Now I...

66 Chizzler Newport. 4 door seducer. Green (of course) 383 2 barrel. $100. I drove it until it blew the front transmission seal out and I drove it a couple blocks until it wouldn't go any more.

I was going to ask but I think I figured it out. The brackets go between the seat and the factory base. I was thinking they went between the base an the floor. Now how is that going to work? :BangHead: :BangHead:

HawkRod Tour 2025 - (North East Region of USA)

WOW, that sounds like quite a party. I would need some disc brakes and something other than a single reservoir master cylinder for that cruise.

Not sure where the correct format would be to ask this question.

Website questions is for questions about how the website works. I moved this to General discussion. Lost and Found could be a good fit as well.

    Edelbrock 1906 Carburetor Spacer

Sorry, I don't. It has been a long time since I did any of those swaps on a big block. I have never done a 4 barrel swap that didn't require some bracket and linkage swaps and modifications.

    Edelbrock 1906 Carburetor Spacer

It probably won't bolt right up. You will probably need a 4 barrel bracket and possibly a different cable. Kickdown linkage for an automatic can be a bit tricky.

    Edelbrock 1906 Carburetor Spacer

It seems any time you mess with a carb, the linkage and/or brackets need to be modified.
