Okay, that's making more sense and is definitely a better safeguard against failure of parts. Leaning out isn't killing it, detonation is, if it leans out because of a failure of something but the timing isnt too far advanced, just means loss of power

I thought myself at first a Coronet 500 because of the lower paint but that's a 440 grill so I wasn't sure what we had there. Some were built before January 69 so they did not come with headrests if I remember correctly.

Failing battery cables also,just a thought.

Hopefully Summits stuff didn't come with metric fasteners....

to eldubb440 ... But with this option you will have to sit on my hood and to clean the windshield if it ever rains.... you might put a dent in the hood.

The information in post #6 is wrong & could lead to new problems. There is a very goooooood reason that Carter changed the jet length & used a raised-height piston cover with the three-step met rods. Using the short jets with the 3 step piston covers results in as possibility of the met rod...
