What a ridiculous mess. Lugs not even the correct diameter. I’m tossing both, hub probably useable if a machine shop cleans it up but I’m gonna source another. Jeez!
Not that I remember crossing but I have a few short pieces of 2x6s in the garage I use for wheel chocks now and then. Maybe I forgot one and it got kicked under the car a little bit and spit out when the tire rolled over its edge.
No kids and the only speed bumps in the area are on streets that are strictly off limits to my old cars. I think on my last drive I went to Walmart to buy gas and probably rode over some of their underground tank fill ports that are usually mounded up a little, but not high enough to get up...
Based on the last 2 years at the swap meet, I certainly would NOT drive 22 hours to attend. The organizers hiked the fees up quite a bit, and the vendors responded by staying away. I live less than 2 hours away, and plan to skip it. My beef is that they charge $50.00 for 2 days. I always go on...
Hi,
I know this an very old thread, But which holes on the outer mounting brackets do you end up using.?
As there are 2 sets and inner and outer hole, I know they aren't far apart but am struggling to find this information as well, eg both outer holes or outer on one side and inner on the other...
Welcome. B.C. Is a little vague. You could try contacting some of the NHRA tracks thinking of Mission or other drag racing sites. Some of the speed/engine building establishments. You might find someone that knows someone who raced the car.
to me yeah,
if it's not raced or 'beaten on' a lot, an 8-3/4" with an auto/727tf is fine
I didn't see or notice what trans you are using...
Then with a good 500+hp motor, especially if a 4 speed,
I'd go a Dana-60,
(specifically a S-60 from Strange Engineering bolt in, great prices & all new)...
Don't use ATF, not good for the hoses and makes noise. I've blown 2 hoses in different cars on freeway road trips in summer temperatures.
I have been using NAPA brand power steering fluid for 25 years.
I buy the gallon jug. The stuff without the stop leak in it.
Works good, hoses don't...
For my old stuff, I've been using the generic one size fits most fluid from the stores. However, when I switch to the Borgeson boxes, they require specific fluid/s.
Be careful when adjusting it. I remember someone who reached through the steering wheel to start the car while trying to test/adjust the PS valve position, and the wheel whipped around so quickly it fractured his fore arm. I think the factory manual will discuss adjusting the valve.
