Matthon, I did not see the make or year of your car. From your photo is your car a 1963 Plymouth Fury Station Wagon. If so I may be able to provide some information on how I corrected the same problem on my '63 Fury.
Asking the same question, 361 or 383? casting number on the side of the block is 2128854-1 whuich my book lists as a 1964 361/383. The pad under the distributor is the confusion it is stamped 6-3 HP T41, does anyone have any idea what this means, there is no 36 or 38 on this pad.
