Hi folks,
Just grabbed a nice barn fresh mopar 7 1/4 axle off a friend as a rebuilding project for myself, all there except the breather bolt
Could anyone point me to a part number for this ? I can't find much online about the 7 1/4 rear at all. Is it a generic part ? Would one off of say an...
Thanks eh!
i finally got the right one off of ebay it just meant no car for two weeks and a bunch of wasted time trying to find the right ones. I'm going to keep your number handy if that's okay with you. Up here in Canada we just don't have the same amount of access to parts you guys do down...
Quick question and sorry if this is a repost.
were there different outer seals for 1966 7 1/4 rear ends on belvederes?
I have two outer seals that are supposed to be correct for the axle but are noticeably different. One is a national 48058 seal, which I tried to install and found to be too...
Hi folks, smashed my '66 belvie in an accident a month ago and I'm looking for a hood ornament. I need the blank slant 6 version without the engine call out on it. I also need the base and the mounting bolt for it.
Any help would be appreciated.
cheers
Hi there I'm looking to buy the upper tie bar for a 66 belvie. I'm not sure of the exact name but it's the bar that goes between the front fenders and to which the hood latch attaches. Doesn't have to be amazing, just driver quality.
Thanks
Problem Solved, thanks for the help everyone.
Turned out to be a bit of everything, bad points and generally the whole ignition system coupled with a dried out carb spacer gasket.
It runs as smooth as butter now pulls beautifully on the highway.
I've got the same problem (except for the fact my dash lights do work) so I'd be interested in what you find. A major culprit for non working gauges on these cars is a small plug-in voltage limiter on the back of the instrument cluster. If it goes sour, your gauges won't work. I replaced mine...
Sorry for the late update, but I haven't had much time to look at it, as work has been busy. I opened up the distributor and the points are badly corroded so that's problem #1. The ignition leads are also pretty corroded and the plugs aren't too bad, but could use replacing. I've got all the...
Thanks for the thoughts guys. Its not all that bad sounding of a noise, just a noticable wooosh coming from behind me, sounds like driving with snow tires on sort of. I haven't spent much time with anything restored as all my other oldies have been junky ford falcons with leaky exhaust and tons...
Took my 66' belvie on the highway today for the first time an noticed quite a bit of road noise coming from the rear of the car. Haven't spent much time with mopars and was wondering how loud our cars usually are at highway speed.
Anyone want to shed light on how much road noise is reasonable...
I usually tackle the fuel system first and then move on to the ignition second. I took the carb apart, and found it to be in better shape than I thought, but I finally found my vacuum gauge and put it on there. It showed low, but steady vacuum at idle and severely late ignition timing so I think...
Hello all,
Thanks for welcoming me as a member
After years of being a vintage ford guy I just picked up a '66 belvedere II 225ci automatic as my summer car.
This is my first post on here, so I need a bit of advice, I'll tell you as much as I know
The car sat for long periods of time before...
