Exactly. Who knew I was a trendsetter in 76 when I scuffed the beige on my Vega, and painted it Grey primer . Did the interior in gloss urethane Grey porch enamel to predate the 90s monochrome era as well.
Had similar problem on a demon years ago. It was actually one of the taillight bulb sockets. Looking in after removing the bulb, the plastic at the base had melted causing the short. All external wiring was fine.
Y39 is special order, not sales bank. This would make sense with the custom paint color and top.
And comparing to a tag of mine, it appears to be a Y as opposed to a V.
Wow. Sold a ton of those 390 & 490s back in the late 80s! Can't beat packing on a piston VS. the flat valves available. Used to rebuild these, and for those who remember, the workhorse 333 & 433s. Had guys who pumped thousands of gallons through those puppies.

In 1969 there were four models.
1) Barracuda - 225 & 318 (not sure if any had 273)
All trim and brake options available, and fastback, coupe and convertible
2) 340-s - 340. Just E55 engine on fender tag to identify. All trim options available, generally not well trim package optioned, HD...
