    What a moron moment. One cover is upside down. (thanks dadsbee for letting me off the hook) I still have an issue at the oil pan and front cover that is bare after cleaning the gasket surface. Thanks again.

    I painted my disassembled 383 with Por15 turquoise. As I assemble it some outside edges of the gasket surface need painted. do I have to scuff the whole motor and repaint? Also, when I clean the exhaust manifold surface there will be more touch up. Thanks,
