On the seats, I actually prefer low backs honestly. 68 are best, no headrests and the setbacks have latches so the passenger seat doesn’t flip forward when you’re driving in a spirited manner.
On your alignment, I’d be interested in what it measures out to with it set as is. My old school...
I certainly wouldn’t spend 3600 on a pair of stock buckets. In fact, I have a nice set of neon buckets which may find their way in place of my bench. They aren’t from an ACR or anything, but they should be better than the Sapporo/challenger seats my bro put in his 68 sport satellite back in the...
When commercial speedo did mine, they said the little bushings and pieces inside the whirling part were sometimes hard to come up with for the older stuff. Dunno if it’s better or worse now a days.

There was a little old white haired lady in west Sacramento up through the early 2000s driving a yellow 73 big bumper duster with whitewalls and full wheel covers. One day I saw it at the Safeway and took a peek. It had the smallest 340 emblems on the fenders and nothing else. I had always seen...
I could have saved you the time, effort, and worry of making it too nice by swapping you my nice black 70 bench for those buckets. Woulda been a bolt-in affair and kept the car more “correct”. Per the usual, you did it the hard way ;)

it wasn’t very long ago I drove by there and to my surprise they were still in business. They do a lot of govt/municipality business and there are lots of truck dealers in west sac use them.

Cool Ferrari, interesting color, is it factory? I’ve always liked those. Back when they could be had between 30-40k I thought I should get one. Even then, I felt it was too much to take on so I didn’t.

Is it just me, or do some of the lug holes look wollered out? I personally wouldn’t run those because they’re uni-lug, but that’s just me. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of your shake doesn’t come from the wheels.

I recall in the early 90s before I had even met you, I saw it in the parking lot of U-pull-it on Stockton blvd. I was thinking who drives a purple hemi X to go junk yarding??!

If you’re never on the highway at steady cruise, I can see it being 13-14. When I was tracking this stuff, I was driving about 50-50 in town and highway. Lots of stopping and starting means lots of accelerator pump shot. Every time you push down on the gas, you’re shooting a stream of fuel down...
One thing that you absolutely must have for economy is a functioning vacuum advance. I forgot to bring that up before.
I think the reason people may lose mpg when they do a 4 barrel swap is they just get a carb and plop it on, zero tuning. You shouldn’t lose mpg just by swapping to a 4 barrel...
I can’t imagine getting 12 mpg on the open road with a stock hiway geared 318 car. All of my 318s have typically run 15-17 mpg. Even my 71 d100 with manual trans and 2.76 gear would get 15-16 going 70-75 mph. My 70s smogger 360 in my 67 barracuda would get 16-17, and 20 when I put the o/d 833 in...
All of this talk about painting things white, the only under car accessory that I am a sucker for in white, is headers. I really like white headers.
