    Carter AVS 4737 4BBL 1970 440 GTX

Why didn’t it happen prior to rebuilding the carb? Once I tap the bowl the car starts right up. As if the float is sticking.

    Carter AVS 4737 4BBL 1970 440 GTX

I had the original Carter carburetor, factory tag still on carb, rebuilt about a year ago. Since then if I don’t start the car for approx 2 weeks or a month I have to tap on top of the carburetor float area and she’ll start right up. I didn’t have the issue until the carburetor was rebuild, 6...

    Carter AVS 4737S 1970 GTX 440 4BBL

Checked the accelerator pump and it has a good strong stream. The issue only happens taking off from a dead stop and shifting from 1st to 2nd. 3rd and 4th is fine with a lot of giddy up

I had the carb rebuilt because of the same issue. The issue was fixed but I had an issue where the car after sitting for a week or so wouldn’t start intermittently unless I tapped on top of the float well. Took the carb off, fixed the issue and the old issue reoccurred! Checked the accelerator...

    Carter AVS 4737S 1970 GTX 440 4BBL

I had a reputable carb rebuilder do the carb. I’ll find out what type of seal was used but wouldn’t I also have the issue on the secondary if the wrong seal was used? I’ll check the S linkage.

    Carter AVS 4737S 1970 GTX 440 4BBL

I had the carb rebuilt back in April of this year. The issue I’m experiencing is in 1st and sometimes 2nd when I give it gas the carb dumps down and then picks up where it left off. Fuel pump pressure is strong, gas float in the carb is correct specs, adjusted the timing, adjusted carb air to...

    1970 440 GTX 4737S Carter AVS Carb

Rather than rebuilding the original 4737S Carter AVS carb I’m possibly looking to replace it with something comparable. Holley, Elderbrock, etc. Is this a mistake or should I stay with the original? I’m open to suggestions. Thanks

    1970 440 GTX Fuel

Try to figure out what this part is. I can’t seem to find it in any shop manuals. It’s located by the fuel pump. I don’t believe it’s the fuel filter.
