I'm having some weird issues with the lights in my 1968 Gtx. First some backstory. This all started when I decided to fix my fuel gauge and figure out why the horn wasn't working. None of the gauge cluster lights worked so while it was out I installed a new circuit board and led bulbs. The...
I've got the gauges out of my 1968 gtx and thought I might as well give the wiring a good once over while it's apart. When I removed the ash tray housing I noticed a relay attached to it. I can't seem to find information on it. I know the tube is for the ashtray light but can anyone tell me...
Thanks guys. The problem is definitely in the carb. I swapped it for a spare edelbrock I had sitting around. Primed it and it fired right up. Don't think it's going to run very well with a 500cfm carb haha but at least it was a quick verification of the issue. I appreciate the advice.
I need some diagnostic help. I was out for a drive today made several stops car was operating great. On the way home opened it up a little ran it up to about 5500rpm in 2nd shifted to 3rd back to 5500rpm and let off. The car started sputtering and quit. Checked under hood everything is still...
The tach is working again. When I was trying to get it restarted it backfired through the carb and there was a small puff of smoke from the air cleaner. I'm going to continue to look but I'm hoping that was the culprit.
I appreciate the help for sure. I'm here to learn from people who know more than me. I'll take a deep dive into it and separate everything out. Thank agains everyone for the input and suggestions.
Well I got it home and changed the battery. Checked the obvious places those looked good. It cranked and fired, alternator is putting out good voltage. Could a simple bad battery cause the ignition to shut down?
Bulkhead connector seems in good shape. No melting or burnt wires. I thought it was odd myself that the orange box was left in it but thought someone new better than me. It ran fine till this morning (had it about 4 months). At this point if I put the key in it the starter will click but it...
For background the car has a 440 msd 6al, msd distributor, and mopar orange box. I was out running errands. Heading home the car started stumbling, the aftermarket tach went to zero (car still running). I got to the side of the road and it backfired once and quit with a little white smoke...
I recently picked up 68 gtx 4 spd. Love the car and so does the wife. She really wants to drive it but we have a problem. She's to short to reach the pedals with the seat all the way forward. I'm sure this isn't a unique problem and am curious how others have solved it. Thanks
